"The 1,197 cc four-cylinder petrol in the 2020+ i10, i20, Bayon, Picanto, Rio and Stonic. Non-turbo, chain-driven, simple. German used-car guides know of no engine problems so far; one engine guide warns the thin chain can stretch around 100,000 km. Some early-2024 cars were recalled for an EGR valve that can stall the engine. Slow but cheap to run. Not the older 1,248 cc G4LA."

EU Safety Gate A12/02768/24 (Kia code 241099): Picanto and Stonic built 11 January to 14 February 2024 with the Kappa 1.0 and 1.2 MPI, 7,771 cars worldwide - a short circuit inside the EGR valve can stall the engine before the warning light comes on. Hyundai recalled about 3,400 i10 built 27 March to 20 April 2024 for an EGR valve fault. Fixed free under recall.
