Character

F9Q (2005-2012, Euro 4/5)

"Later 1.9 dCi (Bosch CP3 common rail, Euro 4 and 5) in the Megane II/III, Scenic II/III, Laguna II and Suzuki Grand Vitara. Much better than the 2000-2005 engines: the connecting-rod bearing problem is gone and turbo faults were fixed by 2008. The weak point is the injectors - a leaking injector seal can damage the engine - plus EGR clogging. Timing belt."

TCe 1.8 (M5P)

"Renault's 1.8 direct-injection turbo (M5P): 225 hp in the Espace V and Talisman, 252-300 hp in the Alpine A110 and Megane IV R.S. Same unit in all of them. The one documented fault is the oil-pressure solenoid recall on cars built up to mid-2019 (metal particles could jam it and, at worst, break the engine) - check it was done. Too young for long-term data."
