Character
DV6ATED4/DV6TED4 1.6 HDi 16v
"First-generation 16-valve 1.6 HDi (also Ford 1.6 TDCi, Volvo D4164T, Mini One D). Carbon in the oil blocks the turbo feed pipe and pickup strainer and kills the turbo — even dealer-serviced engines have done it twice. Leaking injector seals start the chain. Buy only with proof of short oil intervals and a turbo done with new feed pipes."
PureTech 1.2T (post-2023)
"Finally switched to timing chain. Belt issues resolved. Engine of the Year redeemed. Now genuinely recommendable."
