D5204T (D5204T2/T3/T4/T5/T6/T7)
"Volvo's 2.0 five-cylinder diesel, a short-stroke version of the 2.4 D5, sold as D3 and D4 (136-177 hp) in the C30, S40, V50, C70, V40, S60, V60, S80, V70 and XC60 from 2010 until the four-cylinder VEA took over in 2014-2015. Smooth and torquey. Watch the auxiliary-belt tensioner (a failed belt can take out the timing belt), the timing belt at 180,000 km or 10 years, and coolant loss: mechanics report cracked blocks and head gaskets on some engines."
VEP4 2.0 48V MHEV (B4/B5/B6)
"The 2020-on Drive-E four with a 48V starter-generator and cylinder deactivation (B4/B5/B6). The B6 uses an electric compressor instead of the old belt-driven supercharger. Built after the piston-ring fix; no widespread faults reported, but long-term data is still thin."
