Character
M15A-FKS
"The non-hybrid 1.5 three-cylinder petrol in the Yaris (XP210) and Yaris Cross: no turbo, direct injection, chain-driven, 120-125 hp. Too new for much used-car data; German guides say little is known yet. The weak point named so far is the water-cooled EGR cooler, which can crack and let coolant into the cylinders. Watch the coolant level and look for white smoke."
1KR-FE
"Toyota three-cylinder in the Aygo, Citroen C1, Peugeot 107/108 and Yaris. Simple, light and cheap to run with a maintenance-free chain. Watch two things: the water pump on 2005-2009 cars (an uprated pump came in 2009) and the oil level, which owners report dropping on some engines."
