Character
F9Q (2005-2012, Euro 4/5)
"Later 1.9 dCi (Bosch CP3 common rail, Euro 4 and 5) in the Megane II/III, Scenic II/III, Laguna II and Suzuki Grand Vitara. Much better than the 2000-2005 engines: the connecting-rod bearing problem is gone and turbo faults were fixed by 2008. The weak point is the injectors - a leaking injector seal can damage the engine - plus EGR clogging. Timing belt."
K4M
"Renault 1.6 16V petrol workhorse (Clio, Megane, Scenic, Laguna, Kangoo, Dacia Logan/Duster/Lodgy). Simple and long-lived if serviced. Known faults are cheap or routine: pencil ignition coils on older cars, the variable-timing (phaser) pulley from 60-120k km, and a timing belt that must be changed on time because a failure bends the valves."
