Character
F9Q (2005-2012, Euro 4/5)
"Later 1.9 dCi (Bosch CP3 common rail, Euro 4 and 5) in the Megane II/III, Scenic II/III, Laguna II and Suzuki Grand Vitara. Much better than the 2000-2005 engines: the connecting-rod bearing problem is gone and turbo faults were fixed by 2008. The weak point is the injectors - a leaking injector seal can damage the engine - plus EGR clogging. Timing belt."
F4R
"Renault 2.0 16V petrol without turbo (Laguna, Megane, Scenic, Espace, Trafic, and the Clio RS 172-200). Tough and long-lived if serviced. Change the timing belt on time (interference engine) and the intake-cam phaser pulley with it - a rattling phaser is the classic fault. The 2.0 turbo (F4Rt, Megane RS) is a different engine."
