"The 1,197 cc four-cylinder petrol in the 2020+ i10, i20, Bayon, Picanto, Rio and Stonic. Non-turbo, chain-driven, simple. German used-car guides know of no engine problems so far; one engine guide warns the thin chain can stretch around 100,000 km. Some early-2024 cars were recalled for an EGR valve that can stall the engine. Slow but cheap to run. Not the older 1,248 cc G4LA."

"The non-turbo 1.0 three-cylinder in the i10 and Picanto (2011 on; G3LA, later G3LD/G3LG Smartstream DPi), also offered with factory LPG. Simple, chain-driven, cheap to run, slow outside town. Owner data show few engine faults; watch for oil seepage or consumption and a stretched chain on hard-driven cars. Some 2024 cars were recalled for an EGR valve that can stall the engine. Not the 1.0 T-GDi."
