Character
FireFly 1.0 Hybrid (N3 BSG)
"Naturally aspirated 6-valve FireFly three-cylinder with a timing chain and a 12 V belt starter-generator (BSG) mild-hybrid system, used in the Fiat Panda, Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon Hybrid. Mechanically simple and so far robust; the known faults are in the hybrid electrics - a weak 12 V or auxiliary battery switches off the hybrid and stop-start functions. Too young for long-term mileage evidence."
FIRE 1.2 8V/16V
"Simple belt-driven 1.2 that powered the Panda, Punto and 500 for over 20 years. 300,000-400,000 km without major work is documented. Slow, but cheap to fix at any workshop. Keep the belt on time - the 16V and the later VVT 8V are interference engines."
