FireFly 1.0 Hybrid (N3 BSG) vs 1.6 E.torQ
Side-by-side reliability comparison
Specifications
Character
FireFly 1.0 Hybrid (N3 BSG)
"Naturally aspirated 6-valve FireFly three-cylinder with a timing chain and a 12 V belt starter-generator (BSG) mild-hybrid system, used in the Fiat Panda, Fiat 500 and Lancia Ypsilon Hybrid. Mechanically simple and so far robust; the known faults are in the hybrid electrics - a weak 12 V or auxiliary battery switches off the hybrid and stop-start functions. Too young for long-term mileage evidence."
1.6 E.torQ
"Brazilian-built 1.6 16V petrol (Fiat/FPT E.torQ, ex-Tritec plant) sold in Europe in the Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500X and Tipo with 110 hp. Simple multi-point engine with a timing chain. Little European data exists: owners mention oil consumption and leaks, and on the related 1.8 a corroded oil cooler can mix oil into the coolant if the coolant is not maintained. Use the correct coolant and check the oil level."
