M15A-FKS
"The non-hybrid 1.5 three-cylinder petrol in the Yaris (XP210) and Yaris Cross: no turbo, direct injection, chain-driven, 120-125 hp. Too new for much used-car data; German guides say little is known yet. The weak point named so far is the water-cooled EGR cooler, which can crack and let coolant into the cylinders. Watch the coolant level and look for white smoke."
M20A-FKS/FXS
"Corolla, C-HR, Corolla Cross, RAV4 and Lexus UX 2.0 (petrol FKS and hybrid FXS). Efficient, chain-driven and largely trouble-free so far, but the water-cooled EGR cooler can corrode and leak coolant internally - Toyota Europe blames fuel quality and does not cover it under warranty. Young engine: no high-mileage record yet."
